I always get angry mail when I write stories like this. Invariably they accuse me of glamorizing the hacker and ask whether it’s ok to try to break into my house just to “test” security. The irony is that the companies that are hacked are always happy to hear from me — since they’re getting warning about a security hole and can do something about it quickly — and the people effected by the hole have a right to know their data was compromised, right?
