Today has been one of the hardest days of my life… I had to make the decision this morning to put my cat to sleep, and they gave her the injection this afternoon. Two glasses of scotch are helping to ease things…

About two months ago, she was diagnosed with lymphoma, and started chemotherapy — I didn’t even know that existed for cats! — but after about week 10, she got a new drug and she reacted badly, refusing to eat anything and worse (you don’t wanna know). After a stint in the cat hospital — my Visa card is still in shock — she came home with a Schaivo-style feeding tube up her little nose. Feeding a cat with a syringe stuck up her nose is not all that easy, but I did it for a few days and she still wouldn’t eat. I found her this morning sprawled in her litter box, covered with the stuff. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do…

She was a great pet for 14 years, a good friend and a companion who was always with me. Very fussy and prissy and always getting into things she shouldn’t have, but a real warm heart that always wanted to be in your lap and didn’t tolerate strangers in her lair. She is already greatly missed. The house isn’t the same without her.

In happier days…

(she’s the one on the bottom!)
