This weekend I was flipping through our binder of collected recipes and came across a bunch that my wife had clipped from a magazine in what looked to be the early ’90s. She didn’t remember what magazine they were from but suspected Cosmopolitan. Did it used to use a small image of a cat’s face for an end bug after the articles? Anyone know?

While I found the Asparagus Guacamole recipe to be uninteresting, the flip side of the article was a much funnier curiosity. I scanned in the advertisements, spread across two full pages, just so you could see for yourself what the recent past looked like in women’s mags. I wonder which catalog was the best seller…
