TV repair guy came today. He spent 30 minutes a) beating on various components with a screwdriver, b) blowing on the inside of the TV with a hair dryer, c) hooking up some kind of diagnostic gadget, d) resetting the TV to factory settings, and e) waiting.

Bizarrely, the problem has not recurred, though he says he didn’t really do anything.
